Oil is leaking from the driver's side of the engine. What's with that?
Most likely, the oil cooler O-ring. Here's another fix provided by Lvmilkman202.
"To change this "figure 8" oil cooler seal, you need to get a few things:
- Oil Cooler "figure 8" O-ring gasket (P/N 15205-PV1-003)
- Pre Bent oil cooler coolant hose (slight bend) (P/N 19521-PV0-000)
- Pre Bent oil cooler coolant hose (90 degree bend) (P/N 19522-PV0-000)
- Pam cooking spray…seriously…makes the job about 2 hours shorter
- Engine coolant, i.e. Prestone, Honda, Peak.. whatever is already in your car
- 30mm socket
- Other basic tools i.e. ratchet, metric sockets, screw drivers, etc
"In order to have better access, remove the air filter and air box and also the air hose leading to the throttle body. Once you remove that, you will have enough room to access the oil cooler properly.
"The socket size for the middle stud of the oil cooler is 30mm. Remove the hose clamps from the oil cooler...you are going to have
to replace some of the engine coolant because it will leak out.
"The only reason I recommend completely removing the unit is because it is the only way to ensure that it is done correctly...the o-ring is a funky figure 8 shape and unless you seat it with no visual obstructions, you may cause more problems than you solve.
"After you remove and clean all sealing surfaces, you need to start putting things back together.
"The small pre-bent cooling hoses are very stiff and tough to work with. Make sure you put the hose clamps on the outside of the hoses so you don't have to disassemble. Use some PAM cooking spray....just a little bit, to lube the hose nipples on the cooler, and the ID of the end of the hoses....this will save you about two hours of wrestling with the cooler and the hoses...they will slide RIGHT on. Just make sure you only use a little...you are not making an omelet; you are working on your Vig. It will also allow the hoses to move a bit while you are seating the oil cooler.
"Place the cooler back in place and after you have it torqued down, THEN tighten the hose clamps on the small pre-bent hoses. This order of tightening will allow the hoses to properly align themselves before you tighten them.
"Good luck....it is actually a pretty easy job if you use the PAM, if you don't, you had better be ready for A LOT of wrestling, and some busted knuckles.
"Good luck."
Thanks again, Milkman!
